MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Diwan is open to all Sikhs above the age of 21. For more details read more.

WELFARE

Diwan gives monetary as well as material aid to those who are diabled, aged, sick and single mothers. More information is available from the Diwan office.

 

EDUCATION

One of the main objective of the Diwan is to promote and develop the teaching and learning of the Punjabi Language. 

RELIGION & CULTURE

To promote the Sikh religion and culture in accordance with the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Sikh Rehat Maryada.

SOCIETY

To make representation to the Government on religious,educational, cultural and community matters.

DHARMIK

To manage efficiently the Gurdwaras (Sikh Temples) under the jurisdiction
of the Diwan and to appoint priests well versed in the Sikh scriptures.

Khalsa Diwan Malaysia is printing text books for use in Malaysian Schools.

History

Against the influence of Christian missionaries, Sikh leadership at Lahore in 1888 established the famous Singh Sabha Movement to promote religious fervour in thought, word and deed. Khalsa Diwan was mainly established for education and publicity. These moves in due course produced reflections on Sikhs abroad. On the 26th December 1903, about 800 Sikhs from all over Malaya gathered in Taiping to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh. This was the first such congregation in the region, at the Gurdwara of Malay States Guides, a para-military force mainly of Sikhs……
